Alex Lee is the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance at American University. He oversees the strength and conditioning department and the training for all 16 varsity sports after returning to American in 2021. He spent the previous year and a half leading the Memphis University School program as the head strength coach and creating the first strength and conditioning program at the high school. Lee previously spent five years at the United States Naval Academy as an assistant strength coach for football and wrestling. Prior to Navy, Lee was an assistant strength coach at American from 2013-2014. He got his start as an undergraduate intern at NC State University and later a professional intern in 2009. From there he went on to serve as a graduate assistant strength coach at Auburn University from 2009-2012.
Lee is a competitive weightlifter and competed nationally in the 77kg weight class from 2010 to 2016. He still continues to lift and adds in more athletic on-field movements to his own training.
